IGP Promotes 11 Police Officers, Offers Scholarship in Ebonyi

The Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase, on Tuesday promoted 11 police officers of the Ebonyi State Police command on the spot for their various outstanding performances during his one day working visit in the state.

Ten of the beneficiaries were the sentry-men that mounted guard during the IGP’s visit while another police corporal was promoted and decorated immediately by the IGP for presenting a proposal for police data collation in the country.Arase, who reiterated his commitment to the welfare of members of the police force, noted that about 40,000 officers and men nationwide have been promoted since he assumed office.

 He then charged them to respect the fundamental rights of Nigerians.

“The fundamental human rights of Nigerians are very paramount. You must respect the rights of Nigerians,”  the IGP said.

Arase also offered automatic scholarship for a son of a late police officer and JSS three student, Master Oluwasesan Abiodun, to university level for composing and reciting a poem on the gallant efforts of the police he titled “The Nigeria Police”.

Arase noted that with about 3,800 policemen in the command, and considering the land mass and population, it was not possible to be physically present everywhere in the state, and therefore stressed the need for periodic town hall meetings with stakeholders to acquaint them with the activities in the state command.
