THE Christian Conscience Group on
Wednesday urged the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwumi Ambode, to be
more proactive in his decisions as regards protection of lives and
properties in the state.
The group commended Ambode for providing
quality leadership by example in the state by leading the initiative to
rescue the three female students abducted by gunmen from Babington
Macauley Junior Seminary, lkorodu, last week.
“We commend the Ambode-led government
for the strategy already put in place in fighting crimes in Lagos State,
but we want to urge the government to be more proactive by further
making available to Lagos residents dedicated telephone lines to call
during emergencies and also encourage prompt response by the police and
other security agencies.”
The group said this in a statement by
its chairman, Chief Enoch Ajiboso, and its national publicity secretary,
Mr. Tunji Oguntuase.
The statement read, “It is on record
that the Lagos State Government has not only committed huge financial
resources in providing state-of- the-art equipment to fight crimes in
the state, but has also been providing the right leadership needed to
ensure that the equipment is adequately put into use.”
