Auditor General Submits Report on Missing 3.3 Trn to Senate

The Senate on Tues­day at plenary re­ceived the Annual Report of the Auditor General for the Federation on the alleged N3.3 tril­lion fraud uncovered from Ministries, Departments and Agencies of government.

The report which was presented by the Leader of the Senate, Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, indicated an overview of the accounts of the federal government for the year ended December 31, 2014 in accordance with Section 85(2) and (5) of the 1999 Constitution as amended.

It would be recalled that the AGF, Mr Samuel Uku­ra, presented a copy of the report to the Clerk to the National Assembly, Alhaji Salisu Maikaswa, on Mon­day last week for onward presentation to both cham­bers. He gave highlights of how monies were diverted or spent by MDAs during the period under review.

According to the docu­ment, the Nigerian Na­tional Petroleum Cor­poration, did not remit N3,234577,666,791.35 to the Federation Account Allocation Committee in 2014.

Apart from this, the report stated that $235,685,861 being gas sales proceeds acruable to the Nigeria Liquified Natu­ral Gas, was also not paid to the Federation Account, but rather, transferred to some undisclosed Escrow Accounts.

The report alleged that relevant documents were not made available to the office of the Auditor – Gen­eral for verification.

It added that N36,432,423,968.73 was released to the Office of the National Security Adviser for the rehabilitation and construction of dams in­stead of the Federal Minis­try of Water Resources
